Spring News

02 May 08

As I write, many of us are – subject to some final guidance – about to have the new Code of Conduct impact on our working lives to some extent.

So I make no excuse for returning both to the importance of effective and cost-efficient training and to the need for our profession to equip itself with the management skills needed for an ever-changing and complex public sector.

It is now almost a year since we launched our Management Skills training modules and in the spring issue of Training Brief we talk to some of those delegates who have participated and who have identified both the strengths and opportunities the initiative provides.

We have also just run, on behalf of a number of Kent authorities, a training day around the first sieve on the aforementioned new Code of Conduct. This represents another example of LGG’s expertise in tailor training to specific requirements and our previously stated aim of increasing our presence in the regions while continuing to offer a vibrant, agenda-setting programme in the capital.

We are about to embark on a programme of research among our delegates to try and gain a better understanding of their training needs, objectives and obstacles.  If you would like to assist us by being part of that process please contact Ann Harlow on 01483 275577.
